I am married to my wife JaNell of 4 years, and I have a 21-month baby boy named Leo. I am a Spanish teacher, Head Cross Country coach and Distance Track Coach for Waxahachie High. I grow up in Waxahachie, TX and graduated in 2000. I’m a Marine Veteran and graduated with my MBA from Dallas Baptist University. I have been teaching and coaching for 17 years, 14 at Waxahachie.

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My family is my world. I have 2 brothers, 1 sister and my parents. My wife and I have been married for 4 years and have an amazing son named Leo.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

My current career is teaching and coaching. My past career was in the business world and I’m doing my dream job and career.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

I love Tuscan Slice, Cruz’s BBQ and Panza’s Tapping Italy.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I have lived in Waxahachie for 35 years and have worked as a teacher/coach in Waxahachie for 14 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

Mrs. Martha Cunningham.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

My favorite movie is a Wonderful Life. My favorite TV shows are the Psych, Martin and The Mentalist.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Always have purpose in life, always make a difference in other people’s life’s, make Jesus a priority and find a career that you love!

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

The Texas Theater and Oma’s.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

That’s a hard question for me but I would say Dirk Nowitzki. I would have lunch at Oma’s.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

The many traditions we have and the fact that no matter how big we’ve become as a town, it still feels country.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Teaching and Coaching at the Waxahachie High School.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

My family know everything about me, but most people don’t realize I love classical music.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

The first moment I met my son Leo!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My family and Jesus.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Home is where the Heart is, there is no place like home and my family.
