I am a fourth generation “Waxahachie Girl,” and my maiden name is Sides. I am the oldest of 3 daughters and we are the Sides Gals. I fell in love with my forever boy, Eric Farrar, at 5 years old in Kindergarten at Marvin Elementary. We took the long way around, but five years ago, on the playground under the big tree where we used to have P.E., he asked me to marry him. Together we have 3 daughters and 2 sons. I am the Vice President at Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and also work as a personal trainer at Shelby Symmetry. I started a group called CORE Women, which is to help women get back to who God created them to be.
I love Jesus, family, friends, dancing, reading, working out, and learning about everything I can. There are not enough hours in the day for all the life there is to take in! I love Waxahachie and Ellis County. I even love Ennis…. We started Leadership Ellis County last year and it has been so much fun bringing the whole county together and working with all of the chambers.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

Eric Farrar is my husband and together, we have 3 daughters, 2 sons and a dog named Adrian.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I love both my jobs! I love working at Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce where I get to give back to the community I love. I also love personal training and helping people get healthy and feel good about themselves.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

There are too many! Depends on the mood…Campuzanos – I love me some good Mexican Food. Dove’s Nest…always good food there. Sushi…I still like Osuba’s best. Prime 115… a nice filet mignon…F2B BBQ if I’m wanting BBQ. Celebrity Bakery for Brunch. I could go on and on.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

Forever. Literally forever.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

Hmmmm…. that depends…. so many interesting people in this town.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I like mysteries… any movie or tv show that is not predictable. I’m not a Hallmark girl.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Love people. Forgive. Try to be at peace with everyone, as much as it depends on you. Let go of things you can’t control. Trust God…He’s got a plan and has it all under control.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

Motts Five-and-Dime …we used to collect cans and trade them in for money and mama and daddy would let us go to Mott’s and buy candy. Those were some good times.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Author and speaker, Jennie Allen. I think we would hit it off and have a lot in common. I would take her to Tuscan Slice and ask if we could have the side room to ourselves so no one would come up and take any of our time, asking for her autograph. We could chat in the quiet and eat some hearty food together.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

Our community has heart. Ironically, Hachie Hearts are part of the town and it makes all kinds of sense because we do have lots of heart and are genuinely passionate about our community. I believe we are unique in that way. We still care about our community like a small town would, even though we are growing so fast.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Doing what I love, wherever God leads me.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I think people would be surprised to know that I am happy when it’s quiet and no one is around. I am able to be content all by myself. I cannot say I have ever been bored. The word is not in my vocabulary.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

Filet mignon, lobster and a baked potato with butter and cheese…yummmm

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

Many people inspire me. Authors such as Bob Goff, Jennie Allen, Priscilla Shirer, Lisa TerKeurst. Friends, family, strangers, anyone I encounter can inspire me to be better. I can usually find inspiration daily when meeting people.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Comfortable, family, love
